Gym Certification is the baseline safety accreditation; the process ensures that gyms are in full knowledge and capacity of the standard of care. Because the USASF understands the importance of Certification there is NO COST to Members who wish to certify their gym. USASF Gym Certification is recognized as the prudent practice by insurance agents.
The requirements for Gym Certification are Credentialing and CPR for all coaches, AACCA for a Gym Director, full coverage First Aid and Background checks for all staff members. By taking this course of action, a Gym shows competency and awareness of the best-known safety and ethical practices. USASF offers a Certification for those Gym Members who complete and can account for this process.
Coaches Credentialing: The Coaches Credentialing is offered by the USASF as an assessment and educational component that proves competency. Every coach is required to be credentialed through the proper level. For more information visit page 1.
CPR: Administered by organizations like the American Red Cross cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or CPR, is a life saving knowledge that all coaches need. For more information visit www.redcross.org.
AACCA: The Spirit Safety Certification Program is a lecture course, manual and exam designed to educate cheerleading and dance coaches in all aspects of safety and risk management. The Gym Director is required to have this certification. For more information visit www.aacca.org.
First Aid: Knowledge in assessing injury, bandaging, handling blood and blood born pathogens is important in all athletic settings. Full coverage, meaning one employee during all running hours, is compulsory. For more information visit www.redcross.org.
Back Ground Checks: Being entrusted with positions that handle cash, records and most importantly the well being of children entails dedication and good background records. The USASF does not desire any information on such checks, only that the Gym has taken responsibility of each employee. A receipt of back ground check is the only supporting material necessary.
