USASF Sanctioning Standards beginning 2009-10

The requirement for USASF sanctioning is USASF membership of the competition event producer and adherence to the following criteria.

Minimum Requirements to be USASF Sanctioned.

  1. Minimum Requirements for each all star cheer competition to be USASF Sanctioned.
    1. All USASF member competition event producers who produce cheer competitions must meet the following minimum standards in order for their competitions, that include all star divisions, to be sanctioned:
    a. A properly equipped EMT or athletic trainer present and ready to handle emergencies.
    b. $2,000,000 in general liability insurance coverage.
    c. USASF rules must be followed.
    d. Only offer divisions from the approved USASF list.
    e. Follow USASF logo requirements.
    f. Have at least one knowledgeable safety judge onsite at the competition.
    g. Provide a 42’ by 54’ performance floor matted with a minimum 1 3/8 inch carpet bonded foam with panels joined by 4” tape. The performance floor will have a 2 foot border before any drop off or obstruction.
    h. A 42’ by 54’ by1 3/8 inch carpet bonded foam matted practice area.
    i. An unobstructed ceiling height of 20’ over the performance floor.
    j. If performance or practice areas are outdoors, provide suitable foul weather alternatives.
    k. Provide a method of cleaning performance and practice mats of bodily fluids.
  2. The specific floor construction (for example: steel spring, air, or none) and ceiling height over the performance area must be disclosed to all competitors before the competition.
  3. Event producers accepted for USASF membership after June 1, 2009 must be in business successfully conducting competitions for 3 years before they will be approved to hold USASF sanctioned competitions.
  4. Competition event producers that desire to have their competitions recognized for exceeding the minimum standards must meet the specific requirements for the appropriate Star level, 3 through 5.
  5. The USASF Sanctioning Compliance Committee will oversee all reported sanctioning violations.

     
5 Star Requirements (in addition to base USASF requirements)

  1. Must be a Tier 1 Worlds qualifying event.
  2. A minimum of 125 allstar cheer teams.
  3. A minimum of 5 year history for the specific event
  4. 2 performances (prelims and finals acceptable).
  5. A 54’ by 42’ flat performance area spring floor, a 54’ X 42’ 1 3/8 “carpet bonded foam warm up floor, and a double wide spring tumble strip.
  6. If the performance floor is on an entirely built stage, the stage height must not exceed 4’ high and must have a minimum 4’ border, including any slope, from the 54’X42’ flat performance floor,
  7. Minimum arena, hotel resort, or convention center venue. High school and below venues do not qualify.
  8. All coaches of level 5 teams must be USASF credentialed and carry a USASF issued ID card. International teams are exempted until further notice.
  9. Event champion team member awards.
  10. Mandatory division consolidation to create competition in divisions with only one team – small and large. Exception – no consolidation required if consolidation will force teams from the same gym to compete against one another. Other exceptions to follow.
     
4 Star Requirements (in addition to base USASF Requirements):
  1. Must have a minimum of 100 or more allstar cheer teams.
  2. A minimum 3 year history for the specific event
  3. 2 performances (prelims and finals acceptable).
  4. A 54’ by 42’ flat performance area spring floor, a 54’ X 42’ 1 3/8 “carpet bonded foam warm up floor, and a double wide spring tumble strip.
  5. If the performance floor is on an entirely built stage, the stage height must not exceed 4’ high and must have a minimum 4’ border, including any slope, from the 54’X42’ flat performance floor,
  6. Minimum arena, hotel resort, or convention center venue. High school and below venues do not qualify.
  7. Mandatory division consolidation to create competition in divisions with only one team – small and large. Exception – no consolidation required if consolidation will force teams from the same gym to compete against one another. Other exceptions to follow.
     
3 Star Requirements (in addition to base USASF Requirements):

1. Must have a minimum 75 or more allstar cheer teams.

  1. A minimum 3 year history for the specific event
  2. 1 performance, 1 day minimum.
  3. A 54’ by 42’ flat performance area spring floor, suitable warm up floors, and a double wide spring tumble strip.
  4. If the performance floor is on an entirely built stage, the stage height must not exceed 4’ high and must have a minimum 4’ border, including any slope, from the 54’X42’ flat performance floor,
  5. Mandatory division consolidation to create competition in divisions with only one team – small and large. Exception – no consolidation required if consolidation will force teams from the same gym to compete against one another. Other exceptions to follow.
